The Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf Pleads Not Guilty Into the Treason Case

Former Pakistani president, Musharraf,on Monday 31st March 2014 pleaded not guilty into the five counts of treason case, in this newest episode of a long-running drama between the country's ever more forceful judiciary and its former military ruler.

Pervez Musharraf faces the death penalty if they find him guilty from the charges over his suspension of the Pakistani constitution and obligation of emergency rule in 2007, when he was trying to expand his regulation as President. The case symbols the first time when the former military officer Pervez Musharraf appeared in court before a judgment. Previously, the powerful Pakistani military has hardly ever been challenged by either the judiciary or the government.

Judge Faisal Arab, who leads the special panel of three judges, tried to reject the case as a defense plea for additional time.

Musharraf stood up like a straight gun and replied "Not guilty" to any charge. “I like to ask from the Islamic republic of Pakistan, where is the justice for me in this world. I have only served to this country and not taken anything from it,"

"I prefer death as to give up."

Afterwards, Musharraf's lawyer requested for the visit permission in front of the court for his sick mother in Dubai. While at movement, former military ruler is in under house arrest.

“His mother is seriously ill and time is very short for her, for god's sake, she is 94 years old and very badly ill". Farough Naseem said.
