Monday, 17 March 2014

A police pursue ended with a crash on Chicago's Lake Shore Drive near North Side, where police told an "active barricade situation" that remained for more than eight hours, said the officials.

Police said that the suspect was in brought into custody before 9:45 p.m. Sunday after he was negotiated.

A "diversion device" was used to eliminate the suspect from the car and the man was later taken to an area hospital, according to Bureau of Patrol. His state was not right away known, but police said his injuries were self-inflicted.

Spokeswoman of the Harvey Police Department, Sandra Alvarado said the culprit in the vehicle that was being chased is wanted in link to a murder in Hampton, Ga. and the hunt was the result of an investigation involving police in Georgia Harvey police and Harvey police.

Alvarado said Criminal Investigations Division contacted Harvey Police requesting assistance in finding a murder suspect. They told the Harvey police with a car description and registration, its location on GPS and arrest warrant information.

The suspect was a black male subject wanted in connection with a murder that occurred in Hampton some days earlier, authorities said.

Police said the driver hit a police car and one another vehicle, sending an officer, a 10-year-old child and two adults to the hospital, though the injuries were non-life threatening.

Information indicated that bullets were fired after the car was stopped near Fullerton, but this information is not certain, say the police. Witnesses said they heard about three or four shots following the crash.
