Nico Rosberg Speediest, Lewis Hamilton Fourth Malaysian GP

Friday, 28 March 2014

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg beat Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen to set speediest time in second practice at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel was third as the speediest three autos were parted by only 0.061 seconds.

Williams' Felipe Massa was sixth, from Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and Mclaren's Jenson Button.

The second Williams of Valtteri Bottas and Force India's Nico Hulkenberg finished the main 10, from Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne and Mclaren's Kevin Magnussen.

Rosberg was only 0.035secs speedier than Raikkonen, while Vettel's lap was amazing as it went ahead the second lap on the quicker "medium" tires.

"We are pretty much there as far as pace, which uplifting news is," said Vettel. "For everything else we must be patient. It is still early days; regardless we have a ton of issues we have to settle.

"Be that as it may, when we get the bundle together we appear to be on the right page, so I'm anticipating tomorrow and Sunday."

BBC F1 expert Allan Mcnish called attention to that Hamilton and Alonso both seemed to have more potential than they demonstrated.

Mcnish included that he accepted Mercedes may confront a danger from Red Bull.
